It is particularly important to ensure that it is fitted as snugly as possible on the dog. At the front (neck area), it should fit much like a collar, and at the back (belly strap), there should only be enough space for a flat hand between the harness and the dog. There should be a gap of about three fingers’ width between the front leg and the belly strap (depending on the dog’s size).
As the harness is already very flexible thanks to its motion-adaptive buckles, it is essential that it is fitted close to the dog’s body. Don’t worry, it moves with the dog’s every movement. Check the fit and, if necessary, choose a size smaller.
On the counterpart (back section) of the buckle, you will see a small arrow. This is where the buckle opens in an emergency. If you have chosen an ErgoMove Pro™ that is too large, it is possible that the buckles may come undone due to the harness flapping about too much. For example, when jumping or rolling about. However, this cannot happen when there is tension on the lead. Please choose a size smaller or adjust your harness correctly. This will prevent the buckles from opening accidentally.
Please note! The buckles at the front of the harness are smaller than those at the back. This is important to ensure greater freedom of movement for your dog. Have you accidentally put the harness together the wrong way round? If so, the buckles won’t fit properly into their sockets and won’t fasten correctly. Please check that you have positioned the back section correctly.
A dog’s ribcage is a very sturdy area. The forces acting on the dog via the harness can be effectively absorbed here. The lead carabiner should also be attached in this area so that any pull on the lead can be well cushioned. The harness therefore sits precisely in this anatomically stable area. This prevents the neck straps of the harness from pulling over the shoulder blades when the dog pulls, and ensures that the spine is not subjected to more strain than necessary from the pull on the lead.
